My wish list of places that should be wedding venues in Charlotte will most definitely grow the more I turn off my GPS and wander. That’s how most of the hidden gems are found after all, completely random and on a whim.
Although, If I had to start a list of wishful thinking, I’d start with these three Charlotte hidden gems:
Kindred
A restaurant tucked in downtown Davidson, NC calls an old building home. Full of character and natural light, I could spend most of days there. A mix of modern, vintage and a very clean design, the atmosphere definitely doesn’t hurt the overall experience (the food is mighty fine too).
Why I love it:
– The large patio outside (with amazing light)
– The upstairs and downstairs of the restaurant: a perfect way to turn the upstairs into a lounge or dance area and give guests the freedom to mingle on either floor or on the patio
– It’s great for a more intimate-feel wedding. Guests lists would be tight and maybe not doable for ceremonies, but the reception would be killer (and the food would be amazing)
– Downtown Davidson is adorable. The family, bridal party and bride + groom photos would be simply lovely
Eastover Park
I found Eastover Park randomly when I decided to take my dog after seeing the sign. Right beside the Mint Museum on Randolph Road (which does book weddings), this park captured my attention with its simple beauty.
Large open lawns give life to trees that have seen more years than probably our grandparents. Down the middle of the park runs a creek and the light, oh the light just pours through the trees.
Why I love it:
– Just 10 minutes from Uptown, but feels as if you’re on the lawn of a large plantation
– There’s ample parking since it’s right beside the Mint Museum
– Have an outdoor ceremony in the park and walk a short distance for an indoor reception in the Mint Museum
– Do I need to mention the light again? 🙂
7th Street Parking Garage
Above 7th Street Market (a really awesome / tasty place btw) is another hidden gem of Charlotte. The very top of the parking garage hosts some lovely views of Uptown Charlotte and some incredible views of the sunset. It’s one of those spots that would need a lot of TLC to make wedding-worthy, but could be well worth it.
Why I love it:
– It’s your own little piece of Uptown to enjoy with family + friends. Open to the evening air and to enjoy the cityscape
– There would be plenty of parking (since you know…it’s the top of a parking garage lol)
– Catering would mean some amazing selections from the 7th Street Market
– With a little work (and maybe a lot of budget) it has potential
*To my knowledge none of these locations offer event space for weddings…but it would never hurt to ask. At least this photographer would be happy to photograph weddings at these locations 😀
